Frequently asked Questions |
|
|
|
Why should my dog get a massage? |
|
Massage can be a very calming and relaxing time
for your dog. Besides the numerous physical and
emotional
benefits,
it is a great way
to give back to your dog. Massage is physical
therapy as well as therapy for the mind and spirit.
It also helps to rebalance the body to live and move
in harmony and grace.

|
How will I know if my dog enjoys getting a massage? |
|
You can tell if the dog is enjoying the
massage
because he/she will show signs such as leaning into
the hands, yawning, closing the eyes, or a full body
shake at the end. Some dogs even fall asleep during
a session.
|
|
Can any dog be massaged? |
|
All kinds of dogs regardless of breed, size, or age
can be massaged. There are some cases where
massage
should not be administered such as skin infections,
ringworm, shock, open wounds, broken bones, abnormal
lumps on the body or fever. You never want to
massage an animal with an acute condition, injury or
recent surgery without the prior approval of a
veterinarian. In such cases
Reiki
can be applied. |
|
Are there any side-effects involved with massage? |
|
Massage
on dogs when applied properly is done with such a
gentle touch without excessive pressure therefore
not causing any bodily harm or damage.
|
|
How long does a massage session last? |
|
The length of the session always depends on the dog.
The first session can last as little as 15min if the
dog is extremely shy or hesitant. Other sessions can
last as long as 1hr .
|
|
How often does my dog need a
massage? |
|
That depends entirely on your dog’s condition. A
healthy active dog may benefit from getting a
massage
once every four to six weeks. A senior dog with
chronic pain or mobility issues may benefit more
from a massage once or twice a week. Always consult
with your veterinarian to determine the best needs
for your pet.
|
|
How is the Reiki treatment given? |
|
It
can be performed at a distance, just over the body,
or hands touching the body.
|
|
What does the receiving of
Reiki
feel like? |
|
Some animals may feel warmth or heat, some feel it
as energy, and others may feel nothing at all. Most
animals after receiving a Reiki session will sleep
very well that night. The healing energy stays with
them and continues to heal through the night.
|
|
What is the origin of
Reiki? |
|
Reiki is over 2500
years old and was most recently rediscovered in the
late 1800’s by Dr. Mikao Usuii, a Christian minister
in Kyoto, Japan. It was introduced in the United
States by Hawayo Takata. Reiki is not restricted to
any religion or belief system. |
|
